Today’s ‘Uncommitted Spotlight’ features Top Gun Fighting Clams (MA) 2020 goalie Connor Theriault of Northfield Mount Hermon.
Major lacrosse honors/showcases: In addition to participating in the Philly individual showcase this fall on 11/18, and the Maverik Showtime this coming summer, Connor will be attending the 3d/FLG tournament on 11/12 and the Philly Showcase on 11/19. Connor, an athlete who has received high academic honors early in his high school career, expects to start this spring for Northfield Mount Hermon.
Coach’s comments: “In the last three Clam classes where D1 recruiting has concluded (2018-2020), the Clam program has a total of eight goaltenders either committed to play Division 1 lacrosse or currently committed to. This list includes three goaltenders who have been ranked among the top 100 players in the country, and at least two who coaches have indicated to me will likely start as underclassmen in college this spring. All that said, I cannot remember a goalie breaking onto the scene as quickly and who made quite the immediate impact as Connor.

“At the Naptown Invitational in July, Connor led us to back-to-back overtime playoff wins against two of the nation’s best clubs before falling in the semi-finals; at the risk of overstating what I saw, I do not believe we win either overtime game without Connor’s exceptional effort on the biggest of stages. This past summer, this was the norm, not the exception. The performance I saw from Connor throughout the 2017 summer was consistent with the performances of our very best goalies at that point in their development…a case could be made it was, on balance, the best we’ve seen.”
